Pause Place Testimonials

The Pause Place is a unique retreat from the world, at the bottom of a beautiful garden, where Cathy provides a warm welcome to all, newbies or old hands alike. She is adept at getting that little bit more out of everyone with "just one more breath”. She is the warmest, most encouraging yoga teacher I have ever met. If you are feeling anxious about giving yoga a go, don’t be. You are welcome here, there’s no show, no ego…just support and encouragement in a beautiful setting.

The Pause Place is exactly that, I have never felt such tranquility and calmness in one little room. Cathy has an aura that just instantly makes you feel safe, I go to Cathy’s Yin yoga class to help with my anxiety and it’s an hour of my week where everything is quiet and my anxiety is nowhere to be seen.

FANTASTIC !

Cathy is always so friendly and welcoming. Her small classes are varied, with great music in a wonderful setting. I always feel so relaxed and energised afterwards. The best yoga teacher ever!

Sarah

I have not done yoga for many years and also am a little shy when it comes to classes. I had a fantastic 1/2/1 to get me back into the "flow" and to look at the different types of yoga Cathy offers.

The yoga space is so serene and beautiful, I was blown away. I then attended my first Yin class and LOVED it! I have trouble relaxing but with the cosy and calm space I was just straight into quietening my mind. The class was full but I honestly felt like it was just Cathy and I when doing the Yin, and before and after was made to feel so welcome and it did feel like a lovely family.

Having not sat on a yoga mat in my entire life I entered the Pause Place with some trepidation and angst. Cathy offered a 1:1 session as a taster which helped massively and when I attended my first class it was exactly as expected. Thanks to the wonderful Cathy I find myself really looking forward to being at the Pause Place. Fabulous!

I used to think I didn’t like yoga but classes with Cathy at the Pause Place have become a touchstone in my week. Cathy teaches with warmth and humour encouraging everyone to believe they are indeed a yoga goddess! As your body is cajoled into Lizard, Pigeon or our ‘beloved’ Chair you can look out at the trees, the sky and the beautiful garden surrounding The Pause Place. A true delight.

I absolutely love my weekly Yin Yoga with Cathy! I literally run into the Pause Place on a Thursday evening and get an hour to switch off from exhausting 'mum life' and be still. It is so peaceful and relaxing, but with a wonderful dose of good humour and silliness too. By the end of the session, I'm always feeling totally calm!

The Pause Place is a private, welcoming and cocooning environment to learn the practice of yoga at an individual pace. Cathy is a caring and intuitive instructor who practices alongside her pupils, suggesting options along the way for varying abilities. She is also amazing at yoga!

No judgement here, just harmonious small groups taking an hour for themselves to improve flexibility and strength and, of course, to discover a sense of wellbeing and calm (which Cathy positively encourages). I have been attending Flow classes for a few months and my confidence with yoga is growing weekly. I love it.

Louise

My weekly Yin yoga class with Cathy is always an enjoyable experience, with a healthy mixture of stretching, grunts and groans, and laughter in a nice relaxing atmosphere and good mixed company. Additionally there is no pressure to do anything beyond your own capabilities.  After some months or so of weekly Yin,  I can now, among other things, tie my own shoelaces, (not because shoelace tying is taught in class but because I can now bend far enough to reach my own feet) a capability which has annoyingly eluded me for years.  If you want to keep your joints flexible as you get older and enjoy yourself in the process I would recommend trying Yin yoga with Cathy.

Dave

As a newbie to the class (Yin - moving into stillness) it can be a bit daunting trying something new and meeting new people who may have all been doing the class much longer than I. However, I needn't have worried. Cathy was warm and welcoming and explained each move so well, I relaxed into it very easily. The others in the class were friendly and welcoming too and the classes are small, so not overwhelming and feels very much more personal. The studio is beautiful and feels very calm and relaxing and Cathy has provided all the props you might need, blocks, bolsters etc. I am really enjoying my new yoga journey at the Pause Place.

Absolutely love the Pause Place. Can’t recommend it enough. If you’re unsure, go with a friend and you’ll leave with seven more.

I knew I needed to improve my flexibility and core strength and decided to try yoga. I chose the Pause Place because it was local and small. I was nervous at first but Cathy is so warm and welcoming and the atmosphere is fun and forgiving. I feel all the better for it and look forward to classes.

Cathy recommended Yin yoga for me, when I first contacted her about her classes. Perfect for the older yoga participant, Cathy teaches in the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy her teaching.

Jerry

I’ve practiced yoga on and off for several years but have never met anyone so professional and as competent as Cathy.  The classes are fun and Cathy brings a joyous spirit every time I go.

The Pause Place is set in the most beautiful, relaxing surroundings and I really look forward to my classes each week.  All Cathy’s classes are great; hot yoga (Saturday morning 9am) is my particular favourite and the perfect way to start the weekend.  I come out after an hour feeling calm but energised and very sweaty!

You practise at your own level and with Cathy’s encouragement you begin to feel and see a real difference to body, mind and wellbeing.

Having done very little yoga previously I started attending Vinyasa Flow classes at The Pause Place in September 2022. Indeed I attended the first class in the studio.

The studio is amazing! It’s such a peaceful environment. In the summer it was lovely to have the doors open and hear the sounds of nature and feel the breeze coming into the studio.

Cathy is an excellent teacher. Her classes are diverse and well thought out. She gives very clear explanation as well as demonstrating poses. Under her guidance my yoga practice has grown considerably and I am now able to achieve positions like Crow and Wheel which I never thought would be possible.

I have also discovered Yin - as a result of which my body feels more flexible and open.

I have become addicted to yoga attending 3-4 times a week! Thank you Cathy.

As a newby to the area and Cathy’s class, I would like to say how welcome I was made to feel. I thoroughly enjoyed my first session and have already booked up for my next classes.

We relocated to Notts about 18 months ago. Yoga has been a very important part of my life for nearly 12 years so finding a new yoga class was always going to be essential. It turned out that Cathy opened up the Pause Place literally the week I moved into the area.

I couldn’t wait to go to my first class! I was a bit nervous, not knowing anyone in the area but I needn’t have worried. Walking into the Pause Place is like being embraced in a warm friendly hug of yoga loveliness. I love Cathy’s flow classes. We work hard, laugh hard and relax hard too.

Cathy is a patient and inclusive teacher, she guides us all through the flows with no judgement, loads of positivity and encouraging us to perhaps try something different. I genuinely am so very grateful for Cathy and her beautiful studio; you keep me healthy in body and mind. Thank you.
